A Little Update on "Bits and Things"

I've not been able to post any updates lately because I've been too busy with other stuff. You know, those things that, if you think more objectively about it, aren't really important but take up much of your time simply because you love (doing) them.

Yeah, so blame these guys for making the most earth-shattering, people-thought-it's-already-impossible comeback in the KPOP scene. #ancientkpopfan

Here's a lineup of what I'll be posting in the coming days. Hopefully, I'll finish them all before the month ends or else my April archive will only have like, what? 4 posts? lol.

- Review on some Canmake Cosmetics products (been in my draft list for quite some time but not yet complete)
- Review on some products from MAC Reel Sexy and Tres Cheek collection
- Review on BB creams from various Korean brands

Recent Purchase: BB Creams

Just ordered some BB Creams from various Korean brands. Okay, so this might seem like I'm a little late on the craze, but I'm going to talk more about my past experiences with BB creams when I finally do my reviews on these products.

These are what I purchased:
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream

Skin79 Hot Pink Super BB Cream
Tony Moly Expert 3D Collagen BB Cream

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream

Hair Affairs: Seems like Fringe is in!

Last night, my younger sister and I were watching the second episode of America's Next Top Model's latest cycle that has a twist - British Invasion. It was the makeover episode, or should I say "Shakeover" episode, as what Tyra called it. She said she got inspired from the current trends in Europe where all things funky are a hit, so she gave the girls far-from-average looks with all the crazy hair colors and cuts. It was supposed to be over-the-top, but all the girls still looked stunning. After all the new looks were done, I noticed that Tyra gave three girls fringe. Haha. Seems like the time I finally decided to hide my humongous forehead ("fivehead," perhaps?) after years of contemplating is just right. Yey!
It's a pity that Mariah was sent home, though. I think she's really pretty, and the fringe definitely worked on her. Too bad she failed to deliver an impressive photo.

But on a personal note...

I actually cut my own fringe one month ago on a whim. I've always considered having one since my forehead has never been my best asset, and the Asian female celebrities I like almost always have fringe at one point. I think it just adds to the cute factor.

Korean Actress Yoon Eun-Hye
But what stops me from actually getting on the fringe-wagon is that I know how maintaining it can be quite a hassle. It grows really quick, too, so you need to trim it from time to time (The ideal fringe length for me is a little below the eyebrows.) I finally gave in when one day, while I was watching a Japanese drama (or was it a variety show? Can't exactly remember), I found Papa's good ol' scissors sitting nearby. Chopchopchop! I grabbed my flat iron, did some styling, and the rest is history... lol.

Some people regret doing hair changes like that, but I absolutely love mine. Haha. So I think I'm gonna keep my fringe for quite a long time.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki & MAC Force of Love Lipstick from Chen Man Collection: Dupes?

Since it is summer where I am right now (though it still rains occasionally), I think it is the perfect time to put out my bright lipsticks that I rarely use to match the fun, wanna-go-to-the-beach mood. I'm not really fond of using bold colors on my face (and I've said this over and over again in my previous entries), but I still want to try them from time to time especially if it is the right season. And what better season to wear colors than when the sun is out and about, shining so bright on humans and trees. LOL. (And it's not like I have many choices anyway.Yey for being in a tropical country!)

Two of my recent bright-colored lipstick purchases are MAC Viva Glam Nicki and MAC Force of Love from Chen Man Collection. I've always been a fan of the Viva Glam line not only because the products are great, but also because it is for a good cause. So whenever a new addition comes up, I'll be sure to grab it. As for Force of Love, I've read from Temptalia that it is somewhat similar to Watch me Simmer, and since I missed it the first time (Thank God that MAC repromotes!),  I knew I need to check this new one out.
After swatching the colors and wearing the lipsticks for a few days, I couldn't help but notice the similarity between the two, which I think was really sneaky of MAC since the Chen Man collection came not too long after Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam was made available. They're both of really bold pink shade that would definitely draw attention to your lips.
Force of Love is of a bright coral-pink shade with traces of orange here and there. It has a matte finish. I do not have my Watch me Simmer, so I still cannot tell if the two are really similar. Maybe I should have picked up Budding Love (the purplish, other lipstick from Chen Man collection) instead.
Awkward product shots? :)
Viva Glam Nicki is of a vibrant medium pink color with hints of yellow. When layered to build up the color, it gives a touch of coral. It has a satin finish, which means it is semi-matte.

So are they really dupes of each other? Judging from the bullets' color and my not-so-vivid swatches, they're not exactly the same, but the difference is barely noticeable. Viva Glam Nicki is "more pink," or Force of Love is "more red," whichever is more appropriate. Haha. In terms of longevity, Force of Love stays on the lips longer. However, I think I like Viva Glam Nicki more - the color is more wearable and fitting for summer.

On a side note, what I love the most about matte or semi-matte lipsticks like these ones is that I can wear them for hours. Queen/Dowager Princess Clarice said princesses should never be caught applying lipstick in public (Princess Diaries!), and I couldn't be bothered with going back and forth the comfort room just to reapply color on my lips after every meal (And I eat more than three times daily). But what I hate about them is that they stain on my spoon a lot whenever I eat. Haha. I cannot help but be self-conscious all the time. Having them on my teeth is even worse. Srsly.
