I have landed in Hanoi, Vietnam!

It's 3 o'clock in the morning right here as I'm writing this quick post (That's 2AM Manila time!), and I'm still not feeling sleepy. Haha!

So, yeah. I have safely landed here in Hanoi together with my professor and classmates. Tomorrow, or should I say later, will be a long day for all of us as we take a tour of the city. As this is my first international trip ever, you can guess how psyched I am. That's probably why I can't sleep yet. I should be. I need all the energy!

The internet connection I have right now is not one of the best but I hope it would serve me well until we leave and go back home. Haaay...

KMag: Tiffany from Girls' Generation for 1st Look Magazine

So, I'm posting another Tiffany magazine spread once again. Why? BECAUSE THIS IS SO AMAZING!

I love the styling that they did and she looks really pretty in the photos. These first two are my favorites, especially that yellow dress.

JMag: Yui's Fashion Patrol Ft. Animal Print

Who says "cute" and "sexy" don't mix?
I mean, look at how sassy Yui-chan looks in the first photo. It's totally out of her character (at least what she shows on TV), and I'm absolutely loving it! Haha. I don't know how much I can stress that fact because I almost always say the same thing everytime I post this magazine spread, but it's really the thing that keeps me loving it even though the clothes featured seem to be deteriorating. While the only things I love for these two looks are the shoes, the poses make up for them. She's just too fab!

Review: MAC Lipsticks in Venus and Cut a Caper from Heavenly Creature Collection

This has been sitting among my drafts for ages!
I got these two immediately after the collection came out and that was several weeks if not months ago. I've never really gotten around to writing my thoughts on them because I've not worn them that much at all until recently. This review is really late, I know, but since they are still available in some online shops I guess this may still be helpful to those who are thinking of checking these products out.

Cut a Caper is a pinkish-coral shade with a really slight hint of purple. It has a lustre finish. When I first saw Cut a Caper's bullet, it looked eerily similar to Reel Sexy's, which I already have. So I was like, "Oh, another dupe?" But after swatching it, I realized that it's a lot sheerer compared to Reel Sexy.
Venus is a medium pink shade with a touch of golden-yellow. It also has a lustre finish. I actually like this one a bit more than Cut a Caper because it somehow complements the natural color of my lips while giving them a bit of shine. It's really wearable and would look great if you're into barely-there makeup looks.
L-R: Venus and Cut a Caper
My experience with MAC lipsticks that have a lustre finish has been fairly good until these two came along. They're just way too sheer for my liking. I know that lipsticks of these type do not usually last very long and you'll have to reapply them from time to time, but everything I've tried so far were way better. I really love Dish it Up from the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection and it also has lustre finish. But the color payoff is extremely good.

Overall, though they weren't as good as I expected, I guess it was still worth the try. They'll be good for daytime looks but be sure to carry them in your purse so you can reapply anytime.

JMag: Yui's Fashion Patrol Ft. Trend Skirt and Pants Styles

Another set that I forgot to post. While I'm not a fan of the second theme, the first one is just love! The first outfit is something I'd love to recreate. The floral top and A-line skirt look sweet and sophisticated at the same time. She looks like a well-bred girl from a rich family. Haha. The crocheted teal bustier in the second one is quite a nice surprise, too. It made the look a lot more interesting than just a plain white long-sleeve polo and coral skirt.

The outfits for the second theme are not my style, but Yui looks so cute in the second shot, so up it goes here on my blog.

I already found the latest Fashion Patrol spread and will be posting it next week. Yey!Photobucket

I Want Yoon Eun Hye's Hairstyle

...from the drama Lie to Me.
Actually, I do/did not watch this show. It's been about 5 years since I last saw/completed a Korean drama, and I could not remember what exactly it was. I used to watch every single one that stars my favorite actors and actresses, but now I just find it difficult to do so because they can be super long. Like, 24 episodes each? This made me realize how much time I've wasted spent watching them when I was younger. Haha. (Yeah, I've been following these Korean trends from music to TV shows even before they became what they are right now. That makes me an ancient fan. Haha!)

So when I saw photos of Yoon Eun Hye's character in the drama (I also saw a huge billboard!), her locks immediately caught my attention. I really, really like her hairstyle here - the color, the fringe, and the volume. It's a pretty "achievable" look, actually. But the thing that stops me from copying it is the length. I've been wanting to have the same length as Miley Cyrus' (before that recent look change!) and now that mine's almost there, I just couldn't get myself to just chop it off like that.

But if I suddenly get tired of waiting for my hair to grow, who knows what I'll do? Haha.Photobucket

Nail Files: Fiery Tropics

My first post featuring my lame attempt on making my nails look a bit more interesting than the usual. Haha. I absolutely adore nail arts, but I'm not that talented to actually try doing those seemingly complicated looks I see everywhere on my own (Just as I am not blessed in the braiding department. Haha!). Doing nail art is like painting on an obviously smaller canvas, and I've never really been that good with anything that involves paint brushes and canvases. I don't even know what I'm good at to begin with, aside from, well, not being good at things. Hahaha.

And I think I'm good at being random, too.
This actually looks a lot better in person because the fire effect is more prominent (Trust me!). I got my inspiration while watching Shinhwa Broadcast. Hehe. There is this fire image used along with the text caption whenever the members shout (Haha!), and I thought the colors looked really cool .
HyeSung insisting that he's the least handsome member. Haha!
And it's Orange! Shinhwa's official color! How can it not be good? Photobucket

And yeah, tomorrow's my "earth anniversary."

Biz with Li'l Sis: Green Smokey Eye

I know I promised in one of my posts that I'll stay away from my 13-year-old sister's face, but I just couldn't help it. Haha. It's a good way to bond, actually. Plus, I find it a lot easier to practice my makeup skills (lol) when I work on someone else's face. Whenever I apply my own makeup, blending the eye colors is usually the most challenging for me. I just couldn't do it properly with one of my eyes closed. Haha. I guess I just need more practice. And I mean on my face and not on my sister's.
But we didn't actually do a full-face makeup look that day. Just the eyes. To be more specific, just the left eye. Haha. I didn't mess with her brows of course. I didn't even get to apply eyeliner on her lower lashline because she started tearing up. So right after taking these shots, we removed the makeup right away.
And I'm forever jealous with my sister's naturally long and full lashes. She needs no falsies!

JMag: Yui's Fashion Patrol Ft. Pop Color and Fresh Print Styles for NYLON Japan

Oh my gosh. I cannot believe how I missed these two lovely features. Good thing I was sorting out my magazine scans for inspiration yesterday and realized that I missed posting these ones. Look at how fierce Yui-chan looks in the first pic! Though the clothes are not my style, her face looks so stunning  can't help but love everything. And that pose! Haha. It's totally out of the character she usually portrays on TV and movies (Though her recent drama roles are on the spanky side) This is why I totally wish this feature spread will never end. Please, Nylon!
Awww... I absolutely love this one. The hair, makeup, clothes, and those glowing shoes! I wonder if those gold cuffs are part of the long sleeves. If they are, I want that shirt now! And the peplum bustier!
I may have a bit of issues with the hairstyle in this one but it's still forgivable. I like the second look a lot more because the watermelon statement necklace turned me off. Haha.
When I went to UNIQLO during its launching, the first thing I was looking for was a pair of pants that's exactly the same color as what Yui's wearing in this shot. They did have one but they didn't have it in my size. Argh! I settled for an orange and bright blue one instead. So, yeah. Random thoughts.

Nail Files: "Lumot"

Lumot means "moss" in English, but it somehow sounds funnier in my language; Hence, the title. Haha.
And of course, the nail color I'm wearing here reminds me of that. I could've chosen a better thing to compare it with but that's the first thing that came to my mind so... Haha.
Caress Nail Polish in Autumn Glory
I'm not really a fan of Caress Nail Polish because the formulation is a little too gooey for my liking. But for its price I guess I really cannot ask for much. Hehe. It's a bit more expensive than OMG Nail Polish but the latter does a way better job. That's why it's my favorite. The thing that makes it better than OMG though is that it has a glossier finish.

Some of My Hairstyles for the Past Two Years!

I have this impression about myself that I rarely do changes to my hairstyle. I usually just let it grow and chop it off once the ends start to look a bit too damaged and annoying. Haha. But after seeing some of my old photos these past two years, I realized that I did try on a few changes. They're not too drastic though, but still changes nonetheless.

I'm also not one to wake up early just to work on my hair for the day. If I do decide to look a bit more special on a certain day, I usually work on it the night before. Just braids and stuff. Using a curling iron in the morning can be a pain especially if I'm already running late for work. So I'd rather leave my hair in braids overnight and undo it the following day for a simple wavy effect. Thankfully, the curls stay really well for the rest of the day even without using any hairspray. Yey for less damage and more environment-friendly! Hehe.

So here are some random vanity shots that show a few of my hairstyle changes this past couple of years:

Short and Wavy
I suppose it's not as "short" as how short should be, but it's the shortest I've had in years. Haha. This was actually one of the very rare days when I did wake up earlier than usual to do my hair. Well, I just wanted to try the new curling iron I got that day. Haha.

I think this made me look a bit mature though.

Sleek and Straight
This is how my newly rebonded hair looks like. Haha. Actually, it only looks like this after a week or so because I'd usually start messing around with it, like dealing with those weird highlights!

Curly Tips
Chocolates? Haha.
If I remember right, this was a second-day curl. The tips of my hair looked so miraculously pleasant that day that I decided to just let it be that way. I just did a little half ponytail.

Side Braids
My go-to hairstyle! Lazy days usually means braids to me. This was back when the only braid style I can do was the basic one. Haha.

Look! I'm not even wearing that much makeup in these photos! A lazy day indeed!

Orange But Not So
This was when I told myself that I finally found the right shade and brand of permanent hair dye for me. I usually just apply hair color at home because salons refuse to touch my hair for fear of getting sued and all that. Haha. After trying on a few products, I finally settled with Clairol Nice 'n Easy in #98.

That very awkward moment when your real hair looks like a wig. Haha!

This is probably the biggest hair change I've ever done, but no matter how much I'd love my hair to look like this every time I wake up without having to go through so much fuss, it's just not going to happen. Haha. I actually attended a Japanese music fest with my friends that day, and to go with the theme, I went looking like this. My friends actually thought I was wearing a wig until I started pulling on my fringe.

An yeah, I absolutely love how my fringe looked in this one. Photobucket

KMag: Girls Generation's Tiffany for CeCi Magazine August 2012 Issue

I'm not a fan of Tiffany as much as I am of Jessica, but I do find her interesting. She's actually the first girl I liked when SNSD debuted because her short hair made her stand out from the rest of the members. Plus, that pink scooter she had on the video of Into the New World was really cute. Haha. Oh, my eternal love for anything pink!
I'm posting this awesome spread of hers from CeCi magazine because the color scheme would totally look great on my blog. Hahaha. And it's really cute. I got rid of the ones with the male model with a wolf's head because the photos scared the crap out of me. Haha. (*insert random GoT* But I'm supposed to love wolves because they're the sigil of House Stark! But, yeah. It's not just any wolf. A direwolf!)
I love her expression in this photo.

Review: MAC Powder Blush in Magenta from Reel Sexy Collection

It's been a while since I last wrote a product review, and since my blog was initially intended for posts of this sort, I can't just leave it like that, can I? Haha.
MAC Powder Blush in Magenta is well, as its name suggests, a bright magenta shade with a matte finish. When I placed my order, I had the impression that it was more of a dark purple color. The color in the pan was exactly as how I expected it, but the swatch color was entirely different. I got really shocked when I first tried on this product because it was extremely pigmented. MAC powder blushes are usually of really high quality, but this one shocked me the most among all the ones I have so far. I used my Real Techniques Kabuki Brush and dabbed it once on the pan, just once, but when I applied it on my cheeks, the color transferred really well it's almost scary. I thought I wouldn't be able to blend it properly and look like a slapped clown for the rest of the day. Haha.
The texture is a lot drier compared to the other available shades from the regular collection. That's the reason why the product seems a little difficult to blend out once it's already on the skin. But since I only need to dab my brush lightly on the pan to get the right amount of product, I'll probably be able to use this product for quite some time. Hopefully though, it runs out before it expires. Haha.

I just hate it when my makeup expires on me.Photobucket

The product stays on the skin for a long time, too, which is really unusual for powder blushes that tend to fade on the skin only after a few hours. The color is really intense, so if you're into bold looks, you might want to check this one out. Just expect that blending the color out might not be easy.

So this is my first post for the month of August! Yey! My favorite month! Photobucket
